Margie Karpel-Mills died of breast cancer on November 18, 2016. She was 35 years old. Margie was an avid crafter. She was always knitting fingerless gloves and had a carefully-curated online shop where she sold her creations. We miss her dearly and vow to keep her alive through our annual scholarship. Check out The Shop where we honor cottage industry. Any purchase of fingerless gloves goes toward this memorial scholarship.
Every year, the OFA class of 1999, my family and I give a scholarship of $1000 to graduating seniors at Owego Free Academy in honor of Margie. Winners are announced every June. Applications are available through the Advisement Office at OFA in Owego, NY. We are going to open this scholarship up to small schools across the US when our funds are more appropriate to make it so. Margie was a unique woman and we appreciate those who donate to keep her legacy alive.
Thank you for taking the time to honor this very special woman.
